e-Learning Course for the German ZOLL

Project overview

That Works Media developed a tailor-made e-learning course to support the German ZOLL in the fight against labor exploitation, forced labor and human trafficking. This course was designed in close cooperation with the Service Agency against Labor Exploitation, Forced Labor and Human Trafficking and the Federal Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs. The aim was to train the approximately 8900 employees of the Financial Control of Undeclared Work (FKS) and to raise their awareness of how to identify and combat exploitative working conditions.

Goals and challenges

In a world where labor exploitation and forced labor are on the rise, this mandatory course was created to bring customs employees up to speed and provide them with practical skills to identify and combat these abuses. The challenge was to develop a cost-effective and sustainable solution that would reach all employees without incurring recurring high training costs.

Creative implementation - animated videos and storytelling in graphic novel style

At the heart of the e-learning tool were nine animated videos designed in the style of a graphic novel. Creative storytelling was used to vividly convey real-life cases of labor exploitation and forced labor. These visual elements made it possible to present complex topics in a captivating and easily understandable way, while at the same time emphasizing the seriousness of the subject matter.

Interactive learning methods and gamification

Interactive elements such as quizzes and case studies were integrated to reinforce what had been learned, enabling learners to apply their knowledge directly. The gamification elements made the training not only informative but also motivating by actively involving the participants in the learning process.
